Richard Adcock is a professional architect practicing in Cape Town, South Africa. Born in Johannesburg and having studied and graduated at The University of the Witwatersrand, Richard moved to Cape Town in 1984. A love for the natural world arose from being exposed to mountaineering and the outdoors from a very early age. Previously an active sailor and windsurfer, Richard’s activities have extended to 4x4 overland adventures and aviation in order to gain access to remote areas. He is an active member of the Western Cape Microlight Club, and as a pilot takes advantage of the unique view of the world from above, regularly undertaking flying trips throughout southern Africa.
His endeavours in the field of photography include shooting images for the W.C.M.Club web site that he has created and manages as well as contributing photos and articles to numerous aviation and other outdoor and leisure publications and newspapers. These publications include The Cape Times, SAFLYER, MICROFLIGHT AFRICA , AFRICAN SKIES, AFRICAN PILOT, GO!Mag and GETAWAY MAGAZINE. Richards main interest lie in the field of Landscape, Aviation and Aerial photography as well as Macro & Nature photography with a special interest in the plants and insects of the Cape Floristic Region. Richard is an active member of iSpot and is a Peninsula Crew member, dedicating much of his efforts to the preservation of our botanical heritage.
